Lost Down a Sink Hole Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions

This cache is part of a chum-line to the Palisade Flag. The worse part of the hike is getting to the top of the Gearhart Mine Ridge. After that the hike is MUCH easier!
The first of three "cache and dashes" along the trail to the Palisade Flag. This cache is located in an area that is sloughing away and some day will be down the hill and covering the I-70 cooridor. According to the signs and the lay of the land, the ridgetop is begining to develop sink holes from settling caused by the openings left by old mine shafts and tunnels. You can see how the ground is developing large areas of depression and voids, where it has already fallen through. This is just one area that the BLM has fenced off. As you travel east on the trail, you will come across more areas that are not fenced off. Be careful, have fun and see you at the next stop :0)
Special thanks to earthcurrent. Ran out of cache containers so I used the CITO box (Altoids) to make this one. I had one extra pen and found one piece of swag. Will get up in the spring and replace this with something alittle more substantial.
CONGRADULATIONS to zip269 on the FTF!
