My Story
In 2002 my family & I lived by a lovely pond in a busy bustling city called Holme-on-the-Water. We lived there for many years and were very happy when a very hot summer struck and the pond almost dried up. There was not enough water to keep us there and when the heavy machinery and concrete lorries moved in we were forced to pack our nests and move on.
After a lot of searching my family and I soon found another pond, even better than the first, in a place known as Beeford. We were soon settled and invited our extended family & friends to stay. It was a very happy time for us with lots of weddings and christenings.
Happy times were not to last though as in 2003 a Duck War broke out. There was a lot of gun fire around us and some of us were killed in action with other members of my family being kidnapped.
Soon I was on my own, on the run, cold & hungry. I am now a shadow of my former beauty, I have lost a lot of colour, I have no friends or family nearby anymore and when humans or other animals interrupt my day I run and hide. I keep a diary of my movements and one day when I am rich & famous again, I will write a book called ‘Culling, The Ducks Way’
