Several parking places nearby or pull well in to the side of the farmers rarely used track to Glengarnock Castle. Three large beech trees close in line face you up the bank with the Garnock Water at your back - third along to the south. You will see smallish boulders in the root cavities.
The Riddel's owned Glengarnock castle before the Cunninghames. A superb position above the Garnock with very steep slopes. The castle remains are quite substantial - it was destroyed by an accidental fire. It might have been the excuse they were waiting for - a very cold, but safe place to live.
