Mr. Evans' Rock Slide Traditional Cache
gbmcache: After a good run of almost 4 years with 159 finds and 12 DNF's I am archiving the cache. The new owners are not open to having a cache on the property. In response, I am not happy about having a cache at a pub whereas before the restaurant was the family friendly Bob Evens restaurant. Thanks to all 171 geocachers who visited the cache site successfully for unsuccessfully.

The Container is not camouflaged but is nevertheless not in plain view. The cache is on private property and permission has been obtained. Be wary of muggles though as your search will be in the open.
There is a little known story about the beginnings of Mr. Evans’ vast worldwide chain of restaurants. The first building in which the restaurant was located was just off the two lane highway near his home in Ohio. Resulting from the rains that were carried inland by hurricane Roberta in 1962, the side of the hill that graced the other side of the restaurant gave way. The building was swept into the road destroying the young entrepreneur’s investment and years of work. In that the event occurred in the middle of the night, no one was hurt. It was weeks before the road was cleared and the building’s debris was removed. All the while scavenger birds and animals enjoyed the treats that were released from the broken freezer and destroyed pantry.
Mr. Evans was young and determined to realize his dream of owning and running a restaurant that featured his homemade sausage. He had not as yet thought to spread the concept of family restaurants beyond the one. Borrowing money from relatives and friends (the local bank would have nothing to do with him) he cleared the rocks and mud from the site and rebuilt the restaurant. Previously, the building had been a country store and filling station. The new building was built as a restaurant to his specifications, the result being a much more efficient and attractive operation. Business after the catastrophe was twice what it was before and he was encouraged to expand, the result being what the chain is today.
A very important feature of the rebuilt restaurant, at least to Mr. Evans, was a stone wall to buttress the restaurant against any future rock slides. In the ensuing years, as his restaurant chain grew, if ever there was a hill or embankment near the building, he insisted that a stone wall be built. As you can see at this cache site, that landscaping mandate continues.
Please do not leave the cache site until you have hidden the container exactly as you found it.
Have fun and enjoy your hunt. By the way, there is at least one fact in the above story that may be true.
Unfortunately, this restaurant is now closed, the victim of a big bully that moved in up the street. Mr. Evans' nationwide chain still thrives elsewhere.
