Geocache Description:

The terrain on this section of the Superior Hiking Trail (SHT) is fairly challenging, but the view is wonderful. The cache (and overlook) is 600' above Hwy 1.

This is the first cache I've hidden. It is on a section of the Superior Hiking Trail (SHT) of which I'm particularly fond. The cache is located about 1 mile from the SHT parking lot which is on the south side of Hwy 1--about 3/4 mile up the hill from the intersection of Hwy 61 & Hwy 1. To access the SHT trailhead you'll need to head west/left out of the parking lot and walk down Hwy1 about 30 yards. You'll follow the SHT for about 0.9 miles NE from Hwy 1 and then take a left onto the spur trail. Follow the spur to the overlook. You'll be able to see the Lake, Palisade Head, Mt Trudee and the Silver Bay Harbor from the cache site. I hope you enjoy your hike and please share a photo of your caching adventure. The cache is a Pelican 1010 Micro Case Series case. The contents include a log book, pencil, and several small treasures.
