Geocache Description:

The cache is a 38.9 Liter rectangular Rubbermaid Container covered in camoflauged duct tape. The cache location is overgrown with stinging nettles and rose bushes and the trail is not well defined. There are some fallen trees to cross.

I have wanted to hide a large cache for a while, and the Winter Cache Wrapup Event gave me the excuse to finally get this one set up. So off to Canadian Tire I went to buy the container and stock the cache. How much did I spend you ask? 49 dollars!

The location is on a peninsula on Emma Lake. At the time of placement (early December), I could hear the ice creaking and gurgling meaning the lake is not quite frozen yet. I would not recommend using a snowmobile until January or later, but the peninsula is accessible by foot in all seasons.

First to Find can take an item without trading.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR WINTER:

Measure ice thickness in several locations. Local conditions such as currents and water depths can affect ice thickness. Consult knowledgeable local individuals. White ice has air or snow within it and should be considered suspect for recreational use. The recommended minimum ice thickness for new clear hard ice is:

3" (7cm) or less STAY OFF
4" (10cm) ice fishing, walking, cross country skiing
5" (12cm) one snowmobile or ATV
8"-12" (20-30cm) one car or small pickup truck
12"-15" (30-38cm) one medium truck (pickup or van)
