Canmore's highest found Geocache!!!
Over 1500 finds.
The Big Head is a new addition to Canmore and is always popping up in conversations. It's easy to make jokes about it but let's not get aHEAD of ourselves. Someone added a snow mowhawk to it today. I always think it would be good to add a baseball cap or sunglasses.
I'm not sure what I think about it but it's art...everyone is entitled to their own opinion right!!!
Instead of telling you what I think here are some facts I've found. If you know others, tell me and I'll add them to the list.
- Designed by an Alberta artist but constructed in China
- Price Tag : $32,000 or $40,000. I've read both
- Canmore: is named in honour of Malcolm of Canmore, King of Scotland from 1057 to 1093. The direct translation of the word is `big head`.
- Designed by St. Albert artist Al Henderson. He created the model as a likeness of a good friend who is also a soldier now serving in Afghanistan with the Canadian Forces.
- The diameter of my head is the same as the sculpture ;)
I'd be curious to know how much it weighs! Anyway, the actual cache is about 50 feet down the side path in a more discreet area. This is a busy spot in summer so I tried to pick an out-of-the-way spot. FTF is a Starbucks card and cheapo finders disc.
Put a rock in his ear for me! Happy hunting!!
Note that there is a 'challenge' for the head as well!
