Hej Ludwig Pettifogger!

Geocache Description:

Ludwig Pettifogger proudly presents A Nobel Prize Winner in Hammarbyhöjden. A warm welcome to Hammarbyhöjden once the home of a Nobel Prize Winner to be.....

As an active radical social democrat Willy Brandt was forced, at the age of twenty, to leave Germany when Hitler come to power in 1933. He fled via Denmark to Norway. In the spring of 1940, when Norway was occupied by Germany, he escaped to Sweden and ended up living in the suburb Hammarbyhöjden just south of Stockholm.

During his years in Stockholm Willy Brandt had close contacts with the Norwegian resistance movement and was deeply involved in what was happening in Norway. His flat in Hammarbyhöjden became a meeting place for refugees and anti-Nazis from all over Europe. During his exile Willy Brandt learned Norwegian. He was politically active, wrote books, and published articles in anti-Nazi newspappers in Norway and Sweden.

At the starting place you will find a commemorative plaque.
"Skylten är uppsatt i Hammarbyhöjden XXXX"- 1302 = AAA.
The number above the door is XX+ 393 = BBB.
You will find the next position at
N 59 17 AAA.
E 018 06 BBB.

At the second position you will find an information board.
"In XXXX he was appointed social democratic foreign minister in West Germany". XXXX - 992 = CCC.
"In XXXX he regained his German citizenship". XXXX - 1901 = DD.
You will find the final position at
N 59 17 CCC.
E 018 07 0DD.

The final position is at a place with a beautiful view were quite possible Willy Brandt went together with friends and family on lazy Sundays afternoons for a picnic far away from the war.
Or, with a bit of imagination, this was the the place Willy Brandt went to seek peace and tranquillity pondering the future. Little would he then know that he was to become the West Germany Chancellor and as the pinnacle of his career, the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in the year 1971.

Enjoy / Best of luck.
