Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the private property of the local Blue Ridge Council Boy Scouts of America. Permission has been granted for this cache by the camp ranger.

Some information:
.....Camp Carroll Brown Outpost Camp is one of three of the Blue Ridge Council's main camping locations, although it is much less well-known than it's Much more famous brother, Camp Old Indian, which is nearby, as well as Camp White Pines a mile down the road from Camp Old Indian.
Formerly know as Camp Wetoga, Carroll Brown is one of the Blue Ridge Council's best kept secrets. It is nestled in the woods on the other side of the mountain across the road from Camp Old Indian, yet even many scouts who attend Camp Old Indian in the summer are not aware of it's existance. It has an area for primitive tent camping, but access is limited to registered members of the Boy Scout Council, and only with the direct permission from the council office. Our Troop has camped here several times over the years.

For access to this cache, however, you do Not need to enter past the gate itself, nor do cachers have permission to do so. The ranger has granted permission to search up to the gate area only.

Directions: Take Hwy 25 north from Greenville approximately 20 miles. Exit onto Old 25 just a little north of the Highway 11 underpass, and follow signs to Camp Old Indian (COI). Just before the fork to COI near the fire station, turn right on Dividing Waters Road and proceed just over 1 mile to Carroll Brown Outpost Camp on the left. There will be a stone post at the gate. (hint)
.....You can also go on up to Camp Old Indian (do the cache there and just up the road also) then continue to the top of the mountain, then on down the other side on Callahan Mountain Rd to the stop sign. Turn right (on Old Hwy 11) and go down until you come to Dividing Waters Road. Turn right onto Dividing Waters Road.
.....Either way, you will see the sign for the outpost camp.

Your GPSr readings MAY be jumping around quite a bit, as you are in forrested, mountainous terrain. If you have a problem, use the hint.

Take a few minutes to sit and reflect in the (hopefully) silence of the woods and the area. Enjoy the soltude.

HAPPY CACHING!!!
