Sign, Sign, Everywhere a Sign Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

Terza: Two of the signs have been changed and the other signs are now so faded and peeling that it's time to archive this one. I'm sad to see it go because I really liked this one. But now there will be an open place for someone to put a new geocache.

Thank you to everyone who found this cache :)

Geocache Description:

.

This letterbox cache was graciously placed by Terza of the Ladies Letterbox Society. This is a micro-size cache so you will need to bring your own stamp pad or marker pen. Cache is not at the posted coordinates, the posted coordinates will take you to your starting point.

Once upon a time, a newbie geocacher decided to go find a cache in a park.

Now this was not your typical park. In this park there were many things that were not allowed. One might expect that certain things, like carrying concealed firearms and slapping old grandmas with a herring would not be allowed, but at this particular park, there were more mundane things that were verboten.

After parking her car, she decided to get out and explore the area a bit before attempting to find the cache. After wandering in a circle for a minute or two she decided to stop and rest for a moment. That was when she noticed that one of the things that you weren’t allowed to do was to stop. At least there was an arrow pointing her in a direction that would presumably lead her to a place where she could stop and rest. (She had forgotten to put the waypoints in her GPS before arriving – she’s a newbie, remember.)

She walked a little further, but she saw that she still wasn’t allowed to stop, or even park, so she continued following the arrow. When she got to a place where there was an arrow pointing back to where she had come from, she didn’t even bother to read what else it said, she decided that this was a ridiculous park and that she should just find her own path.

During her stroll down the path she noted the many things not allowed in this park. No glass containers. No motor vehicles. No abandoning fish or fowl. She thought to herself that maybe the last one was because too many people were slapping grandmas with herrings and then leaving them lying around. She was starting to get in a fowl mood herself because she noticed that to continue on her path she would need to walk through a minefield of goose droppings.

Not being too squeamish, she continued on, watching her step, until she came to a flagpole. Having been to a few caches with friends before she could recognize a few words like gur gerr haqre n ebpx but she didn’t know what zntargvp meant. She decided to decrypt the hint and thought the flagpole might be a good place to look. She gave up after a minute because there were way too many muggles about.

After her FTF (failed to find) she decided to head over to Kmart to pick up a stamp pad so if she did come back at some point she could stamp her book. But how to get out of the park? She saw a sign that said “EXIT” and it had some confusing arrows on it. (On the way to the exit she noticed that at least here she could park, assuming she had permission.) She studied the sign with the arrows for a minute and knew there was only one way to go. She counted 8 wooden posts and came to a bush that looked like a typical place to hide a letterbox. But how does zntargvp work in a bush? It doesn’t. By then she was so upset that she decided to just head straight back to the car.

On the way back, though, she had a stroke of genius. Maybe because she was such a newbie she had walked by the cache at some point during her walk. Maybe it was in plain sight, but it was something common but slightly out of place. Maybe she didn’t have just the right perspective before. Something fishy was definitely going on here. Ah hah!!! Now she knew exactly where it was and she felt much better after she made the find and signed the log.

DON’T USE THE STAMPS TO OPEN THE CACHE!!! THEY ARE DELICATE!!!
