We all know that one of the rules of geocaching is that If you
trade for items, that you trade for something that is of equal or
greater value. I have never come across a frequently found cache
where this has been the case (Have you?). The intent of this cache
is to see if this can be adhered to.
The Cache is hidden near a lovely little pool with a small
cascading waterfall. There are some large boulders which make a
small cave.
It is a two part multicahe, with the final hidden a little off
the beaten track to protect it from muggles. The coordinates for
the final are given within a small cache at the first stage.
As with
all forest caches, as a trade off for beautiful surroundings, one
has to deal with poor GPS reception.
The first stage is hidden at the given coordinates.
To log a find you PLEASE adhere to the following
Rules:
1. You do not have to trade, TNSL is allowed. (Initally I wanted
to enforce a trade, but it goes against the spirit of geocaching,
forcing one to "Pay to Play". I would however urge you to trade, in
the spirit of the cache.)
2. If you trade the item you leave MUST be of equal or
greater value to the item you took.
3. You may NOT trade
two or more, less valuable items for a single more valuable item.
This means the number of trade items in the cache must stay the
same or get less.
(This will prevent the value of the items becoming "watered down")
IF POSSIBLE PLEASE TAKE OUT TWO OR MORE ITEMS AND TRADE THEM FOR
ONE, MORE VALUABLE ITEM.
4. When you log you MUST write what you traded and what
the value of both the traded items was. MUST be done in the
log book AND in your online log.
5. When you leave an item you MUST leave the item in a
Ziploc bag. It MUST be accompanied by a piece of paper
giving its Rand value. (There is a spiral bound note pad within the
cache for you to use to write the value of your item if needed.
Please tear off the page and put it with your item.)
6. It is permissible for ONLY ONE of the items in the cache to
be a cash trade item. If someone trades an item for cash then it
may only be a single item of cash i.e. one coin or one note. ( I
don't want the cache filling up with loose change!)
Don't get too hung up on the logging requirements. It as a
pretty place and you don't have to trade!
