Loch Leven Trail - The Old Kirk Traditional Cache
Loch Leven Trail - The Old Kirk

The Old Kirk lies on the north banks of Loch Leven and can be accessed from the Loch Leven Heritage Trail which runs around the Loch for 21km with lots of places to join and/or stop for refreshments en route.
This church is now a ruin and the graveyard no longer tended. In 1729 a new church which is still in use today, was built in the village of Milnathort using stone from the Old Kirk. The emphasis of the trail is on wildlife and Loch Leven’s status as a national nature reserve. The loch’s water, islands and reed-fringed shores are internationally important for nesting ducks and over-wintering wildfowl, with more than 20,000 pink-footed geese using the area. Whatever time of year you visit, there are plenty of birds to see and the three hides along the route are ideal places to sit and watch their goings-on. The GPS was very erratic at the time of placing the cache and was showing up to a 20ft error, but the clue should help. Ample parking at the Burleigh Sands Car Park. Congratulations to Talking Treeoes on FTF
