Going round in Circles Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

shirty demon: Both the cache itself and the associated container have been stolen.

This may have something to do with the recent clearance of vegetation around the cache.

I do not have a replacement for the "specialist" container so am reluctantly archiving the cache.

Thanks to all who have enjoyed hunting for the elusive little beast!

Geocache Description:

Please note that there is NO parking in the immediate area of the cache. There is plenty of free parking at a large supermarket (every little helps!) or other nearby retail outlets in Solent Rd, all of which are only a few hundred yards away.

I suggest you begin your walk from around
N50.50.972 W 000.59.113, near 2 interesting "totem poles".

All walking is on a tarmac path which follows the course of the Lavant stream and is suitable for wheelchairs and buggies.
After a short time, the scenery changes abruptly and you reach the site of the old Havant Town Mill. The mill, dating from 1460, was driven by water coming from the Lavant stream, the Homewell spring and a spring which today is partly beneath the large grey office block. Stored up water was held in a large millpond and released by a sluice gate to drive the water wheel. The mill was operational until 1934 and was demolished in 1958 to make way for the by-pass. When an office block was built on the site of the millpond, a symbolic wooden wheel was erected in the old mill race. Most of the brickwork that you can see is original.

You are looking for a small 5” long plastic container which is covered in black gaffer tape and contains only a log sheet. It is not hidden in any of the obvious places, so a fair bit of searching may be called for. There is no need to go climbing on the water wheel! No tools are needed to retrieve the cache, however, a pair of tweezers might well come in handy to access the log book!

When you have found the cache container, please be CAREFUL and treat it with a little respect. In order to access the log sheet, you simply need to gently unscrew the white plastic cap.

At certain times of the day, the path past the cache can be incredibly busy with office workers etc. Be prepared for some very strange looks as you search for the cache and remember not to look too suspicious!
