While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

Geocache Description:

Haukaberg er ein liten fjelltopp som er godt synleg frå bygda Skjold. Den passer godt for motiverte born som vil på fjelltur. På en klar dag er utsikten flott. Du kan parkere like ovenfor prestegården i Skjold (Kommer du fra Haugesund svinger du til venstre i 40 sonen før Esso stasjonen og følger veien nesten til endes, parkeringsplassen ligger på venstre side).

Haukaberg er en fjelltopp i
Skjold i Vindafjord kommune. Herfra har man god utsikt over bygda.

Kommer du fra Haugesund svinger du til venstre
på toppen av bakken i 40 sonen før Esso stasjonen. Følg veien
oppover, så finner du parkeringsplassen på venstre side av veien
(N59° 30.692 E005° 35.541).

Første stykke av turen går på traktorvei, men
husk gode sko, for første del av stien går over ei lita myr...

Turen egner seg godt for dei som vil nå ein fjelltopp, men ikkje har lyst til å gå så langt. Traktorveien går opp forbi drikkevannet til bygda og videre til Bjordalsvannet Fra veien kan du også gå til fjelltoppene Ravnafjell (det går sti fra denne til Haukaberg) og Valåsen GC 10052 (visit link) . :-D
Toppen burde være nådd på cirka 15 minutter (pluss minus 5 minutt
alt etter som).

Haukaberg is a mountaintop in Skjold. From this mountain (it could actually be defined as a
hill if using the old definitions of the British Ordnance Survey)
you get a good view of the surrounding landscape.

If you are travelling from Haugesund, take the
second left after entering the 40 kmph zone and follow the road to
N59° 30.692 E005° 35.541 where you should be able to park (given
that my coordinates are not to far off).

The first part of the hike is on a tractor
trail, but when turning off from this it gets very wet for about 600ft. Good shoes are recommended.

Walking at a steady pace you should reach the
top in approximately 15 minutes (give or take 5
minutes) The tractor trail continues about 2 km further on and ends by a small lake. From this trail, you can also hike to the mountaintops Ravnafjell and Valaasen, GC 10052 (visit link)
