Cycling, as well as walking, is a pleasant way to explore the Linear Park.
Difficulty rating is a combination of the need to find information and variable satellite reception at the final location.
You are looking for an Eclipse Mint container, located at another of my favourite spots in the River Torrens Linear Park. Sat lock is poor at the final location.
At the initial location you will find a magnificent mosaic snake set in terracotta pavers.
One of the pavers is inscribed ‘THE SNAKE REPRESENTS THE LIFE GIVING FORCE OF THE RIVER’
The project was carried out by volunteers, with funding by local government and sponsors, and the shards for the snake were collected from the banks of the site, which would you believe it, was once used as a rubbish dump. Things they did!!
In order obtain the coordinates for the final location, which is S34 54.ABC, E138 36.DEF, you will need to read the information on the adjacent commemorative plaque.
A= Number of letters in the 1st name of the politician who opened the site.
B= 1st number of the year of opening.
C= Total number of letters in the name of the politician who opened the site, divided by the number of letters in the surname of the mayor.
And:
D= 2nd number of the year of opening.
E= 2nd number of the day of opening.
F= Number of letters in the surname of the opening politician.
Take along your bird book; spend a little time to watch the antics of the water birds and appreciating the native vegetation planted by the volunteers.
