We have added
pictures of each campsite for you to get an idea of what each
site looks like. After you have decided what site you like please
check the campground campsite listing above to see if that site has
not been taken by another cacher first (might save you some time),
then use the link provided on the W.M.G. website event listing to
book your campsite.
After you have booked your site post what site you have to the
W.M.G. forums so we can keep a list as to who is where in the
campground.
It is highly recomended that you reserve you site As Soon As
Possable, The longer you wait to decide that you want to stay the
whole weekend, the less likely it will be that you get a
spot.
Granville State Forest is located
along the southern border of Massachusetts in the towns of
Granville and Tolland, this state forest's 2,426 acres,
borders with Connecticut's 9,152 acre Tunxis State Forest,
creating a sense of tranquil remoteness. Formerly, this
extensive rolling terrain was once the hunting and fishing
ground of the Tunxis tribe, later becoming open farmland and
pastures; now slowly reverting back into a northern
hardwood-conifer forest. In 1749 the first English pioneer to
this area, Samuel Hubbard, settled along the banks of the
river now bearing his name. Enjoy a walk along the Hubbard
River as it cascades through natural rock formations forming
pools and waterfalls, dropping a rapid 450 feet in 2.5
miles.
Cell service is fairly good at Granville State Forest, with
the exception of Nextel. Nextel users be prepared to not have
service in most of the park. If you have Verizon or Sprint your
service is very good, but like most cell phones you could lose it
in certain places.
