We have many special traditions in the Dude family when it comes to Christmas.
This is a tribute to family, tradition, and love.
Some of these will be easy, some will be hard, all will share a little about what a HiDude Christmas looks like.

This is a tradition that we feel has been lost over the years. When I was a child we had 5 generations of women cooking in the kitchen at Christmas. It wasn't a bad thing to be in the kitchen as a child, it was a good thing! The little kids were instructed to watch the older kids, the older kids watched the women, and the women watched the grand-mothers. In this Christmas kitchen we heard about the great depression, the story of the day Kennedy died and gas lines in the seventies. We heard about babieds being born, divorces, now jobs and updates on family. We heard the grandmothers passing on advice and we learned what it meant to be a female in these changing times. It was a beautiful thing to be in that kitchen, so we have started the same tradition in our house. All the girls, no matter how old, come together to cook Christmas dinner. They boys are welcome too, but they usually choose to watch sports and then do the dishes later :)
