Western Springs; home of the Auckland Zoo, MOTAT, a stadium with a natural amphitheatre, the Speedway and playing fields of the Ponsonby Rugby club as well as a large public park.
The cache is located in some mixed scrubland above the playing fields and adjacent to the stadium. A track leads through here, and will get you close to the cache, though a small amount of bush bashing will be required to reach the cache location through relatively open bush.
Consider bringing a bag and carrying out a bit of CITO, the area is not bad, though there are some discarded paint tins and bottles around. The nearby fence of the stadium seems to be a favorite place for taggers and you may wish to check out some of their art.
Take care on the track, as markings would suggest it gets used for downhill mountain bike training.
Cache is a .30 cal ammo can, please ensure it is well hidden and covered with leaf litter before leaving.
