Welcome to the Central Jersey Scavenger Hunt.
This is a challenge cache. While the cache is found at the posted coordinates, you must find all of the items listed below and post a picture of you, your GPS or "mascot" each location.
Here are the guidelines:
I. Visit all 25 items below.
II. Submit proof of "found" objects by:
- Post the 25 pictures to your log
- Links to picture stored on Image services
- found Waymarks
- a montage of all visited sites.
III. Share your GPS coordinate for each picture so others can visit your site too.
IV. All items must be in New Jersey or the New Jersey Coastal Waters.
VI. All pictures used should be new and taken to complete this chalenge.*
Here are the items:
1) Revolutionary War statue, marker or plaque (example)
2) Statue of a head or bust
3) A 9/11 memorial
4) A sundial
5) A True meridian marker
6) A milestone maker (not a sheet metal highway marker)
7) A Peace Pole
8) A Permanent Survey, Boundary or Referance Marker that is Not a Disk
9) Stone pillars (at least 6ft tall)
10) A dinosaur (fossil, statue, modern art)
11) An abandoned car in the woods.
12) A piece of military equipment on permanent display. (No longer in service) (Example 1)Example 2
13) A train engine, caboose, or train car on permanent display. (No longer in rail service and not on or connected to active rail lines) Examples)
14) A sign or object noting a highest point
15) A sign that says "Central Jersey"
16) Tombstone from the 1700's or an obelisk not in a cemetery*
17) A lighthouse
18) Information/history marker for a tree.
19) Mural (Not grafitti)
20) Highway giant or ginormous everyday object.
21) Town clock
22) Time capsule
23) New Jersey historical marker.
24) A U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
25) A compass rose (Must be over 3 feet in size and have the cardinal points shown.)
This adventure might take some time to complete. Many of the items can be "collected" during your regular caching, benchmarking, and waymarking outings. Some are very hard to find and others are quite easy. Keep your eyes peeled, some may show up when you least expect it
Tips and tricks. You might find some leads on the above object by searching Waymarking. In addition, you may log find on those site and link the image or log to your note.
