Geocache Description:

This is a well camoflauged gallon sized bucket. This cache is not located in the cemetary, and there is no need to go into the cemetary.

Following the Confederate War, the Methodist of Branchville decided that one of the first things necessary to rebuild their devastated country was the building of a new church. As a result, the present structure was begun in 1867 and completed in 1870 at which time it was dedicated. The church was built of long-leaf pine and still exists today. Sardis Methodist Church is the mother church of all the other Methodist churches in this immediate area as well as also of several churches of other denominations. This church held services until sometime in the 1960's. To the left of the church is a grave of an unknown Indian.
