Eine römische Villa mitten im Wald - A Roman House in the Wood
Mitten im Wald in der Nähe von Oberlunkhofen stehen die Ruinen des Römischen Gutshofes Schalchmatthau. Die 1897/98 von zwei Lehrern entdeckte und teilweise freigelegte Römische Villa war vom 1. bis 3. Jahrhundert nach Christus besiedelt. Sie liegt erhöht über dem Reusstal und weist einen für die damalige zeit charakteristischen Grundriss mit Mittelteil und Seitenflügela auf. Das Gebäude steht unter Denkmalschutz. Es ist deshalb sehr wichtig, dass die eingezäunte Anlage nicht betreten werden darf.
In the middle of a forrest near to Oberlunkhofen you will find some ruins from a Roman House called Schalchmatthau. Two teachers discovered the ruins in 1897/98. The house was used between the 1. and 3. century. The structure of the house was typical in that period. There is no need to enter the area behind the fence.
