> Motley Crue was formed in 1981 by Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Mick Mars and Vince Neil. Motley Crue have released 13 albums since that time, which have sold over 40 million copies. While they have always been indisputably the ultimate in sleazy rock and roll bands, they have also combined that with their excellent songwriting abilities. Although there has been some changes in the band over the years (Vince left briefly in the mid 90's, Tommy has left more recently and has been replaced with Randy Castillo), Motley Crue have remained at the forefront of their genre. In November 1981, their debut album Too Fast for Love was self-produced and released on Leathür, selling 20,000 copies. . After playing the US Festival, and with the aid of the new medium of MTV, the band found rapid success in the United States. They were also known as much for their backstage groupie antics, outrageous clothing, extreme high-heeled boots, and heavy make-up. Their mixture of heavy metal and glam rock stylings produced several best-selling albums during the 1980s, including Shout at the Devil (September 26, 1983), Theatre of Pain (June 21, 1985), and Girls, Girls, Girls (May 15, 1987). The song, Home Sweet Home, was a hit ballad on their album, Theatre of Pain. This was around the time that every glam band had to have at least one ballad on their album or they had no album. I remember when I was a child, listening to this song over and over. You can’t have a hair band memory without including Motley Crue (especially as they were in the early 80’s) !
