This survey monument, set in February 2004 by the Arizona Professional Land Surveyors Association, marks an offset to the symbolic center of population for the state of Arizona. This Center of Population Point is where an imaginary, flat, weightless and rigid map of the state of Arizona would balance perfectly if all its 5,130,632 residents (based on the census 2000) were of identical weight. The actual computed location of the population center lies approximately 1.39 miles from this monument, at N33° 22.400 W111° 49.717. Based on these calculations, the point falls in the back yard of lot 547.

When you get to the coordinates there is a benchmark and a sign. This is not the location of the cache. The cache container is in the lamp post skirt in the opposite direction of where the true location of the AZCOP. Park hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and is well lit where the cache is. While you are here you can log the virtual cache Population Center - Bull's Eye by OK Doke. You can also log three different waymarkings. This cache is part of the FTF challenge which is a competition to determine who are the REAL FTF hounds and who can place one of the coolest caches in the east valley. Details of this competition can be found at the FTF All Star welcome page.

Chances are this cache has already been found by the time it has been published and will more than likely already have signatures on it so please do not rush out to attempt a FTF.
