A fairly strenious walk over rough tracks
A cache placed for the “Banish the Winter Blues Event”, held on
the
28th December 2008 at the Pen-Y-Fan Leisure Park.
This is one of two caches place close to a Trig point for all
of
you cachers who worship the trig point.
The UK network of concrete pillar triangulation points was
built
and measured between 1936 and 1962
by the Ordnance Survey, for a project known as the
Retriangulation
of Great Britain.
These innocuous little pillars and plates could be considered
the
forefathers of our GPS units as they were used to assist in
production of the Ordinance survey maps we all use today in
our
quest for the elusive caches!
This cache can only be reached on foot. There are various routes
to
it from the event site but be warned the shortest route is
VERY
muddy! We would recommend Wellington boots or good waterproof
walking boots. You have been warned!!
The Trig point can be found at N51 42.705 W003 10.252 and is
in
view of the cache location.
