Geocache Description:

WE DID IT AGAIN
GEO JAMBOREE 7 - WAS HERE!

BY POPULAR DEMAND, WE RETURNED TO THE SHORES OF LAKE ZOAR FOR THIS TWO-DAY EVENT IN WESTERN CONNECTICUT.
OUT OF AREA AND OUT OF STATE CACHERS WERE WELCOMED FROM AS FAR AS MINNISOTA & PAKISTAN !

SHURE IT RAINED A LITTLE, BUT THINK ABOUT IT... WHAT PERFECT TIMING ! Mother Nature was just letting us know who was boss. But she also let us get through the day right up to the last minutes of the raffle, she let us get through most of our meals and the campfire. I think that's a pretty good deal. (No comments on the overnight sprinlkle.)
AS ALWAYS, WE STRIVE TO GET BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER
JUNE 13-14, 2009

Located in Kettletown State Park, this event is sure to be the biggest ever seen in this area. Bring your canoe or kayak and search for water caches or cross the river and search for caches in Paugussett State Park. There are also caches in nearby Southford Falls State Park, just up the road.

Camp Sites were SOLD OUT, But as always we managed to get everyone in by swapping and sharing sites.
Click here to see the map of the sites compiled by Skippermark

Stay the night in any of the wooded campsites and search for special "Night Caches" (flashlight required) These were a great hit in past years and there should be some really good ones this year. Join with other camping geocachers for campfire comradery.

Bring what you can to share, we have grills going for your use.

NO CACHER LEFT BEHIND

WATER TAXI SERVICE A special thanks to "Son of a Beach" who offered power boat services throughout the weekend making ot possible for ALL of us to get to those water caches.

CANOE/KAYAK INSTRUCTION "Sam the SoccerDog" and others helped out by offering canoe/kayak lessons and loaners again this year for those of you who wanted to search for them yourselves. A great chance to try a new sport.

NEW THIS YEAR

NAME TAG CONTST: Tired of getting those plastic and paper stick-on name tags that fall off half way through the event? Make your own! Make one that shows your team spirit that you can wear to any event. Stand out in the crowd! Awards given.
Rules? We don't need no stinken rules. Be creative!
FIRST PLACE - Lostboy1966 with his official "Bad Critters Hunting Badge"
SECOND PLACE - VASaturn with a flashing light badge that would make it easy to spot in the dark.

The folks from "Leave No Trace" put on several presentations at the Jamboree that we hope you learned from. Although most of us are very conscious of our environment, we occassionally encounter evidence of those who are not. Leave No Trace promotes awareness of our impact on the environment in many areas that we may not have thought of.

Yes, we had WI-FI AVAILABLE ALL DAY SATURDAY
Sme folks were logging their finds the minute they got there. And we have some ingenious ideas for next year (Thanks to RichNsin). How about sending streaming video of the event to a link back home for those who can't make it? We're working on it. Our WI-FI supplier said we should call it "Geo-streaming" I like it.
