Geocache Description:

Off the beaten path, but a quick grab when you get there.

Eckley Cemetery sits back a half-mile lane off C.R. 1754 (Landfill Road) less than a half mile east of C.R. 655, Vermillion Twp., Ashland County, OH. It is the burial ground of a Revolutionary War veteran and Civil War veterans. The cemetery was laid out by George Eckley in 1816 after he built a small church building, which was known as Eckley's Meeting House. Eckley is credited with establishing the first settlement in the county in 1811, near the two Indian villages of Jerometown and Greentown. The community revolved around the church and school built on either side of the cemetery and was known as Eckley community for more than 100 years. The cemetery is all that remains, as the church was struck by lightning and burned to the ground in the 1880s and the school was torn down about the time of WWII. Be sure to look around. Lots of history!! BYOP Eckley Cache is a camouflaged pill bottle. Started with a log book, 1958 nickel, WWJD bracelet, erie sound maker (fitting for the location), tell the story pin, The time has come pin, Tow path pin, Cross tie pins, Harley Davidson sticker.
