Geocache Description:

For logging please see special instructions below.

If you should ever stay in Lima, you should visit San Cristobal from where you’ll have the most breathtaking view over the city in all directions. I recommend not to go there on your own (except you're in a group) but take a touristic bus tour just for safety reasons. First take a taxi to the “Plaza de Armas”, the main place of the old city of Lima. If you walk around there you will certainly notice small buses circling around the plaza which have written “Servicios Turisticos” on it. They do a small sightseeing tour in the old streets between the beautiful old colonial buildings and impressive churches. Finally they climb up a steep street through the colourful painted “Pueblo Joven” of Cerro Cristobal to the Mirador San Cristobal at the top.

Typically they do a 20min stop there which gives you enough time to look for the cache and still take a lot of photos and enjoy the great panorama. After the bus stops, take the opportunity to quickly go back the road about 50m in the last curve before the platform such that you can see the cross from the front. Do this best before the other tourist start strolling around.

The cache is located in a small cave. You need to have a look to the spoiler picture to find it. Plese help to keep the cave clean.

A special challenge with this cache is that the container frequently gets muggled because poor people scan everything for something they can use or eat. So the new container is perfectly disguised as a hollow stone.

In case you can’t find it in the short time of a bus stop do the following: Bring a fibre pen with black permanent color and write your nickname and date on a small grey or white “logstone”. There are plenty of it around. You can also prepare this log on a piece of wood at home already but please don’t use plastic or paper. Then deposit the “logstone” or piece of wood in the small cave.

I’ll put some photos from San Cristobal in the gallery in case the weather is bad.

Have fun caching and sightseeing in Lima!
