This cache was placed by Psyprof and adopted by HistoryJoe23 in August 2021.
Background (Psyprof): The quilt square at this cache, on a picnic pavilion, is Cowboy Star. The waterfall lies beyond, at the end of the road.
Elrod Falls is a lovely, three-tiered waterfall situated about ten miles south of Sneedville, TN, just off of highway 31. Approaching Sneedville, watch for Elrod Falls Road on the left side of the highway. Follow that road west, past a sharp turn by a horse barn, continuing along until a left turn is seen for Falls Road. This leads you shortly into a public picnic and hiking area at which, on a rustic picnic pavilion, is the Cowboy Star quilt square of the Appalachian Quilt Trails. The cache is just across the road from the pavilion.
If you follow the road another 150 yards, you will arrive at the parking area for the falls themselves. Only the lower falls is really visible from the bottom; one must take a trail to the middle and upper falls. Video of the middle falls can be seen at Youtube
