The Lawson cabin is located south of Kyles Ford on East Pumpkin Valley Road, off of Highway 70. Details are sketchy on the Lawson Cabin, and we'll continue to dig for information on this one. We know from the grandson of its last occupant, a Lawson, that the cabin was built in the late 1790's. An outbuilding below the cabin is reputed to have served as slave quarters, then later housed farm animals.
Clinch-Powell RC&D are in the process of restoring this old cabin. On the building next door is one of the AQT quilt squares.
