Geocache Description:

Our annual Christmas offering

Congratulations to Fuzzy Bears on 'FIRST TO FIND'

Welcome to Christmas Cache 2008

The final cache is very simple to find and is just a 5 minute walk along a footpath. The footpath can be a bit muddy in winter, but is fairly level. There is no specific parking so you will need to pull in beside the road as near as you can.

The co-ordinates published are not for the cache, to get those you will need to answer the 10 questions below. Each question will provide some information for you to answer the next one until you finally get all the co-ordinates.

Good luck and log a DNF if you need help with any particular question.

1. Enter these numbers in Google Earth to find a location.

48.858382
2.294730

How many plaques did the builder place on the first stage (AB)

What year was it opened (18CD)

2. Complete the following Sudoku using the numbers from the letters above where shown and collect E & F for the next question.

3. Enter these numbers in Google Earth to find a location (don't forget the minus sign).

-33.E56401
151.21F967

What year did the architect of this building die (20GH)

What is the clearance below the nearby bridge, in metres (JK)

4. Complete the following puzzle

Each of the small squares in the grid below contains either A,B or C. Every row, column and each of the two long diagonals have exactly two of each letter. To help you solve this problem, I have provided as many clues as I think you will need. Find the letter for each square.

Across
            1. The two B's are separated by one square, which contains a C.
            5. The B's are between the C's.
            6. The C's are between the A's.

Down
            1. The B's are lower than the A's
            2. The C's are between the A's
            3. Each B is directly next to and below an A.
            4. Each C is directly next to and below an A.
            5. The B's are between the C's.
            6. The A's are between the B's

Convert the letters from squares 1-1 and 6-6 (where A=1, B=2 & C=3) to LM.

5. Enter these numbers in Google Earth to find a location (don't forget the minus sign).

What is the height of the deck level above high water (2P5)

6. Complete the following Puzzle

7. Enter these numbers in Google Earth to find a location.

27.R75065
7H.042020

What was the cost to build (S2) million

How many minarets are there ?, multiply this by 2 (T)

8. Complete the following (these letters do not refer to any previous puzzles).

9. Enter these numbers in Google Earth to find a location.

Q2.S74P64
1.10701V

Many a geocacher will be familiar with the above location and what has been provided there, but what year was a cricket match held on the lake (18W7)

Which Henry had a tutor who became the rector (X)

10. Finally complete this last Sudoku to get the co-ordinates of the actual cache.

Using the above Sudoku as a grid with 1 to 9 across the top and A to I down the side, find the numbers for the final co-ordinates.

B4 = a
H5 = b
D6 = c
I3 = d
I7 = e
D1 = f
F4 = g

A4 = h
D4 = j
D1 = k
F7 = l
H3 = n
G5 = p

This gives the final co-ordinates of

N ab.cd.efg

E 00h.jk.lnp
