Geocache Description:

This is a quick and easy cache in the little highland town of Newtonmore near to Loch Imrich, a peaceful little loch surrounded by quiet woods. The origional cache was hidden by the shores, but was muggled when the footpath was re-built. The cache was then moved to a small hollow filled with trees, very near to the Loch, but the trees in this hollow were all cut down , so the cache was moved to a 3rd location next to the loch. After several years at that location it was muggled in summer 2022, and it has now been moved to its 4th location in an elevated position overlooking the loch. Please replace the slate cover to the cache - this will prolong its life. .
Loch Imrich was once used for curling many years ago when the winters were cold enough for it to actually stay frozen for months on end, and be thick enough to do a bit of curling! Sadly, that sport has now passed on, but there are still the remains of the old curling club hut, by the shores, which you will see if you walk all the way round the Loch.

Loch Imrich will make a nice, peaceful, very short walk for anyone. Ideal for young families. More information about local walks in Newtonmore can be found at http://www.newtonmore.com/things-to-do/in-newtonmore/local-walks.html This is our first cache placed in the Highlands as we are from Edinburgh so I hope you enjoy it!
