Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates. It is a short distance off the trail and no bushwacking is required. The cache is approximately 4-km roundtrip of hiking or biking.

WEST COUNTRY PUZZLE TRAIL

West Country Puzzle Trail The West Country Puzzle Trail (WCPT) is a series of 9 puzzle caches that brings my total number of hides of this type to an even 100. This is a good spot to stop --there will be no more! They are intended to stimulate the mind and feet since they are located along a 14-km stretch of the Confederation Trail with limited car access, necessitating either hiking or biking. No puzzle hints will be posted until a FTF has been logged, or it becomes obvious that a hint is required. Eight of the 9 caches will contain a “letter-number” combination written on the inside lid of the container that, when put together in proper sequence, will take you to the 9th and final cache – “Tout Finis” (GC1KAZH) – located somewhere along the route you’ve just traveled.

These caches are hidden along the Confederation Trail near several side trails known collectively as the West Country Trails. The “Bog Walk” is an interpretive boardwalk trail that will take you to the middle of a beautiful peat bog. Due to the rare nature of the plants, this bog is now a protected natural area. The “Palmyra Trail” (2.5 km) winds the hills and along the streams surrounding the community of Tyne Valley. Aside from some spectacular scenery, you can also learn a bit of history of the area and the shipbuilding industry through interpretive signage. The “Path to the Past” (1.5 km) trail meanders along Smelt Creek, offering glimpses of the history of the area while crossing several bridges.
