The Quakers who settled in Berks County were strongly antislavery and were instrumental in the Underground Railroad effort. As a result there are many locations around Berks County that were used as Underground Railroad stations. According to local lore this area of woods now owned by St Lawrence Borough was once a camping area for the runaway slaves. Local resident provided protection for them as they passed through Berks County on there way to New England. There are old maps that I have seen that make reference to the area as a hiding place for fugitive slaves.
N40°19.778 W075°51.788 is the location of the trailhead and on-street parking is available at the intersection of Adams St. Stoner Ave.
Archery hunting is permitted in this area so wear orange during hunting season.
The cache is a 1.2 Qt. camouflaged Lock & Lock container and there are unmarked trail that will take you close to it.
