In the village of Blingel, near Blangy sur Ternoise, an old chapel keeps the memory of a 7th century miracle. This traditional cache will get you to discover that location.
La vie de la commune de Blangy sur Ternoise est intimement liée à celle de Ste Berthe, cette sainte mérovingienne du VIIème siècle. Les écrits racontent qu'elle fonda l'abbaye qui trône encore au milieu du village au VIIème siècle et qu'elle s'y retira à la fin de sa vie avec ses filles. La légende raconte que sa troisième fille, Emme, répudiée par son mari, revenant d'Angleterre à Blangy sur Ternoise, meurt sur la route. La dépouille remonte la Canche jusqu'à Marconne où sa mère l'attend. Non loin de là, au lieu dit "Le Grand Pré" la morte ouvre les yeux, l'espace d'un instant pour consoler sa mère, avant de les refermer à jamais. Une chapelle, rebaptisée en 1877, rappelle encore aujourd'hui ce miracle, à l'endroit où une source a la propriété de guérir les maux d'yeux. La cache se situe près de cette chapelle et de cette source miraculeuse.
The history of the village of Blangy sur Ternoise is closely tied to the fate of Sainte Berthe, a holy figure of the 7th century. The writings remaining from that time explain that she was the founder of a covent which still stands in the middle of the village and that she retired there with her daughters at the end of her holy life. The story tells that her 3rd daughter, Emme, who got rejected by her husband, died on her way back to Blangy sur Ternoise. The body went up the river Canche to her mother who was waiting in Marconne. Not far away from there, in the place named "Le Grand Pré" (The big field), the dead daughter opened her eyes just for a few minutes, the time to help her mum to get over the death of her beloved child. Then, she closed her eyes forever. A chapel, which was renamed in 1877, keeps the memory of this miracle, and a stream flows from the ground at this precise spot. The stream is said to have the power to heal sore eyes. The cache is near this chapel and this miraculous stream.
