Geocache Description:

Bukovec predstavuje v ramci Slovenskeho Rudohoria jeden z najlepsich rozhladovych bodov. Suvisi to s davnou polnohospodarskou cinnostou obyvatelov obce, ktorych upadajuce banictvo nedokazalo dalej uzivit a poda v dolinach bola prilis zamokrena.

Hnilecke vrchy su jednym zo siedmich podcelkov Volovskych vrchov :-)

Gerlachovský štít 2655 m :-) a co by kamenom dohodil nazerame do ulic Spisskej Novej Vsi s najvyssou kostolnou vezou u nas :-)

Ponad pas ihlicnatych lesov mozeme obdivovat oblast Galmusu s charakteristickou vyse tisicmetrovou stolovou horou Skala (1013 m).

  • Este si zaznacte male cislo CDEF v pravom dolnom rohu tabulky „Bukovec 1127m“ (pripadne pismena ignorujte).

N 48° 50,(F) (X/C) (A+D)

E 020° 43,(A+E) (X) (B-C)

Prosim Vas o starostlive utesnenie vsetkych obalov a o identicke ulozenie cache. Nepouzivat hrubu silu!

ENGLISH:

The cache is hidden on an interesting hill with remarkable view. In medieval especially the german settlers were populating this country and therefore a lot of names have a german origin. The current slovak name of hill is Bukovec (Beech hill) and represents the highest hill of Hnilec mountains with an altitude of 1127 m above sea level. And what of a view are we having in front of us? Southern you can see Zlaty stol hill (Golden table) where the hungarian king Matthias Corvinus is believed to have some lunch break. In addition Golden table is the most eastern situated over 1300 m peak in Slovakia. Underneath the forest, in the valley of the river Hnilec there is situated the village Svedlar. Next in the west there is one of the most majestic peaks of Slovakia called Kralova hola (King’s peak) in the Low Tatras mountains. From this place it looks like a volcano, isn’t it? Standing on the meadows on the Bukovec hill we have a beautiful look on the High Tatras barrier with Spisska Nova Ves town in the river Hornad basin. Some other unknown panoramas are offering all around. Just a note, I recommend to visit the hill and the cache during nice weather with good visibility.

The classic access to the cache is from the village Porac (blue marked trail) where you can park your geovehicle. Don’t forget to find the near hidden cache Porac. The trip to the Bukovec hill takes some 90 minutes upwards, but the ascent is very comfortable. Second possibility is to follow up the blue marking from the village Svedlar. The ascent is shorter but much more steeper. Adequate shoes are recommended in this case. For some trekkers I recommend the two-days trek across the Hnilec mountains from Hnilcik-Gretla (bus) via Bukovec to Krompachy (bus, train). Beautiful and wild nature without the crowds of tourists!

The difference between the elevations of both orientation spots in Svedlar is AB. Next, small number on the corner right bottom of table „Bukovec 1127m“ is CDEF (ignore some potential characters). Finally the nearest tree is: maple X=4, spruce X=5, pine X=6 or beech X=7?

The final coordinates are:

48°50,(F) (X/C) (A+D)

020°43,(A+E) (X) (B-C)

After finding, please carefully close all covering and make sure to put it on the place in the same way. Do not apply the brute force! The cache is intended for changing some small things but do not insert useless „kinder egg garbage“. On the front page of logbook there is a bonus number. In the near future it could come in useful to you...
