Every now and then I get tired of being a path pounder and
seeing the same old routine scenery. When this happens I get on
Google Earth and I look for something interesting. I did this
yesterday and I saw a chain of ponds back in the middle of nowhere.
Part of the job for a Geocacher is to draw attention to areas that
other cachers might find interesting. My first thought was that not
too many people would want to venture off of the trails and hike
the 1.25 miles (as the crow flies) to see this area. I did want to
see it so I took a cache with me and planted it near Jay Pond. This
area has a bounty of awesome scenery that is seldom seen because no
trails are nearby. That is a shame.
Jay Pond is the largest in the chain of ponds in this area. This
area has large pine forest and old growth timber that is so rare
now days.
The cache is in a water bottle which contains a log book,
pencil, a collectible coin for the FTF and a set of AA batteries.
You will need your GPS on this cache and I wanted to make sure
cachers didn't find themselves with a dead GPS on the way out.
The tracks on the right side of the topo photo shows how I went
in so I could see the chain of ponds. Going out in the valley
(tracks left side) was much easier.

Big Congrats on the FTF to Twisted Lemons! That is a
tough hike if you get out of the valley.
