A cache and dash with views over the River Teith towards the estate of Blairdrummond.
Blair Drummond house was built in 1868-72, replacing an earlier mansion which was built in 1715. During the 18th Century Blair Drummond was the home of Henry Home, Lord Kames (1696-1792), an enlightened landlord who set about clearing the deep moss of the carse lands with a view to agricultural improvement. The scheme was initiated in 1766 and within a few decades the greater part of Blair Dummond and Flanders Moss had been converted to productive farmland by both Lord Kames and his improving neighrbours. Lord Kames was a Law Lord and leading light of the Scottish enlightenment during the second half of the 18th century. Blair Drummond House is now owned and run by the Camphill Trust providing accomodation and employment for adults with disabilities. Blair Drummond Safari Park is close by and is home to Scotland's only Safari and Leisure Park established in the 1970s, so if you listen carefully you might hear the lions roaring!!
This is a narrow single track road, so care is required. Please always find a safe place to park where you are not obstructing the road.
Please replace the cache carefully exactly as you find it, as it has had to be replaced twice.
Congratulations Geoarab FTF
