At the turn of the 1900's, this area was ripe for the pick'ens. That is if you liked sagebrush, jackrabbits, and lots of coyotes. B&B Ranch (E.F. Benson and Willard H Babcock) had a sheep ranch in the area. During the Summer months, they pastured them across the river on the West Bar.
Trinidad was a railroad siding area, that allowed trains to pass each other. There was a depot located here and around the turn the of century, there were carloads of wool shipped from here. In 1906, the local sheepmen in the area were able to ship out 100,000 lbs of wool .19 per pound.
Today, the Trinidad area is a Summer Recreationalist's dream. Just down the hill is Crescent Bar, with ample boating, camping, golf and plenty of other activities for the summer. Trinidad has a small gas station and convenience store, a small antique shop and just across Hwy 28 to the North West is a local winery with a small music amphitheater.
Please be polite while in this small community, You will be watched:) but the neighbors will know why you are snooping around.
