This cache is dedicated to my wife.
I grew up on Long Island; my wife was a nomadic Air Force daughter until her family settled in Lakewood, WA. In 1994 she applied to, and visited, Penn State. She checked out the ROTC program there, as well as the nursing program, the same time I was doing both at Penn State. We never met.
After I received my nursing degree and commission in the Army in 1998, I was stationed at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma. I lived less than a mile from her. As a nursing student at Pacific Lutheran University (GO LUTES!), she rotated through the floor where I was a staff nurse. I met many of her friends in the nursing program. We never met.
In 2001, I was moved to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell, KY. This became her first assignment. When she arrived I was doing a tour in Kosovo. Upon return, I worked in the ER, and her on the floor. We met briefly but unremarkably one night when she needed an x-ray read by and ER physician, since none of her docs were in house.
It wasn’t until March of 2003 when she arrived as an ER staff nurse in the Kuwaiti desert that we ‘met’. We became good friends, sharing the horrific burdens of a medical unit providing care during war and the incredible memories of playing spades, hearts or listening to two of our knucklehead friends with a guitar.
After returning to the US later that year, we began to date. We chose to take a joint assignment in Germany, and were married in NY a little over a year later.

How many times has fate played a role in your life? I would be humbled if you would share how fate has intervened in your life.
So onto the cache. It is in the obvious spot for a film canister geocache, but should be hidden well enough hidden from non-geocachers. Please be cognizant of your surroundings, both the road in front and the parking lot behind. if there are any questions, I recommend you pretend you are taking a picture of the great sign at GZ.
