Die Koordinaten dieses Earth–Cache führen euch zum Fuß des Spiegelsberg.
Dieser ist eine geologische Besonderheit, da man hier in der Borgholzer Gemarkung vulkanisches Gestein vorfindet, welches auf vergangene vulkanische Tätigkeiten hinweist.
Oberflächlich auf dem Spiegelsberg steht als Gestein fast nur Mittlerer Keuper – vertreten durch Gipskeuper und als kleine Kuppe auf dem Gipfel Schilfsandstein – an. Am Nordwest- und am Südosthang verrät ein schmaler Basaltgang, dass hier vor etwa 7 bis 11 Millionen Jahren (im Obermiozän) Magma aufstieg und erstarrte. Ein mit Schlottuff gefüllter Schlot am Nordwestfuß des Spiegelsberges ist ein weiteres Zeugnis des tertiären Vulkanismus. Als der Tuff aufstieg, riß er Gesteinsbrocken aus den durchstoßenen Schichten mit. Daher findet man in der Schlotfüllung Brocken vom paläozonischen Grundgebirge und dem Rotliegenden bis zum Oberen Keuper.
