Hannah Ludlow Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is close to my other caches at Flisteridge Wood, Motorway – What Motorway? and Eastcourt to Chelworth to Eastcourt.
Hannah Ludlow was born on 1st June 1803 in Cirencester, and was baptized there on 3rd July the same year. On her death she entrusted two fields close to the village of Hankerton to generate a charitable income for the relief of “hardship or distress” amongst the parishioners of Hankerton. The Hannah Ludlow Trust is still in existence, still lets the fields and still makes grants from time to time.
The Hannah Ludlow cache is on a green lane, which leads nowhere, but runs alongside one of the Hannah Ludlow fields. Parking is available at N51 37.425 W2 03.512 – the green lane runs pretty much due south from this point.
There is no need to enter any fields or cross any barbed-wire fences. There is a small piece of barbed-wire near to the cache location, so please take appropriate care when searching.
Other than following a period of warm and dry weather I would recommend boots. The path can become a bit overgrown in summer – when the tree cover might also interfere with GPS signals a bit. I wouldn't recommend this one as a cache-and-dash in business suit and shoes!
