The Grand Union Canal links Birmingham to London with a waterway which is 145 miles long and contains 166 locks. This cache is one of a series to be found along or close to the Hertfordshire/Buckinghamshire stretch of the canal.

The cache is located alongside the canal in the cutting at Tring. Tring Cutting was a major feat of engineering when it was completed in 1797 to allow the canal to cross the steep chalk ridge of the Chilterns. This is my third attempt at a cache at this location, which seems to be a fairly muggly spot. Look out for maggot drowners! GPS reception is dreadful so I have included a spoiler picture to help you out. You are looking for a small round tupperware container, about 4 inches across. Please replace it as you found it (unless you find it totally exposed, of course!)
