A lot of caches are just for the numbers, but this little cache includes a bit of local history.
On the NW corner is The Chimes…. Way back when, Elsinore was known for its healing waters and the Crescent Bathhouse was the place to soak. This wonderful old 1800s Victorian gingerbread is now an antique store called The Chimes.
On the NE corner an old hardware store is the site of another one of the City’s very old buildings. Built right along the old train tracks, this place has housed many different businesses over the years.
On the SE corner is the Chamber of Commerce, the site of Lake Elsinore’s turn-of-the-century train station for the Santa Fe Line, serviced by Old Number 10. You can even see an old Handcar parked in front!
And finally on the SW corner…. Well, it’s not an historic building, but probably the cheapest Gas in town!
OK, History lesson is over…. This is just a quick little cache, but while you’re here, take some time and explore this great little corner!
Log only cache so byop.
When you are here, take a walk across the street to the Chamber of Commerce building and grab the NGS Benchmark, DX1730. It is on the sidewalk with the light post as you walk up to the building.
