L’histoire de la demeure de la Pré Fantasti remonte au XVIIème siècle lorsque les frères Barberini, Antoine et François, vinrent s´y installer. Neveux du Pape Urbain VIII, ils furent nommés cardinaux, puis se trouvèrent accusés de détournement de biens de l’église par le successeur de leur oncle Innocent X et perdirent leur fonction. Ils vécurent entre Paris, l’Italie et Caromb entre 1646 et leur disparition. Est-ce à cette époque que se fonda la légende de la demeure des Barberini où Antoine et François mirent en expérience l’élixir de vie ? Leur coexistence s’est-elle avérée conflictuelle jusqu’á l’instant où, dit-on, Antoine aurait jeté du vitriol sur François qui y aurait succombé suite á de terribles souffrances ? L’esprit vengeur de François aurait-il occupé la demeure et par la même instauré une légende qui se poursuit encore ?

Die Geschichte des ‘Pre Fantasti’ geht auf das 17. Jahrhundert zurück, als Antoine und François Barberini hierhin zogen. Sie waren Kardinäle und Neffen von Papst Urban dem Achten. Als dieser starb, verloren sie ihre Funktion und lebten zeitweilig in diesem Haus in Caromb. Dort arbeiteten sie am Elixier des Lebens, das unsterblich machen sollte. Der Legende zufolge überschüttete Antoine seinen Bruder François mit Säure, der kurz darauf an den Folgen der Verletzungen verstarb. Bis zum heutigen Tag spukt deshalb der auf Rache sinnende Geist François durch das Haus und den angrenzenden Garten.

The history of the remains of the ‘Pre Fantast’ go back to the seventeenth century when the brothers Barberini, Antoine and Francois, came here. Nephews of Pope Urban VIII, they were appointed cardinals, and then found themselves accused of misappropriation of property of the church by Innocent X and lost their function. They lived between Paris, Italy and Caromb between 1646 and their disappearance. They began to experience the elixir of life, which is the key to immortality. According to the legend Antoine poured vitriol on Francis, who died as a result of terrible suffering. Until today the vengeful spirit of Francois is still active in the house and the garden.
