A bit of bushwhacking, part way up Avery Mt. will earn you this cache.
This cache was hidden as I bushwhacked back to Mike Burke Trail cache from avery hill cache. Thus the name, "halfway there". The trail to Mike Burke cache continues towards Avery then peters out and bushwhacking is necessary. The woods are fairly open without too much downed wood, so it wasn't too bad with a snow cover that did not require snowshoes. I don't know how hard it would be in snowshoes, nor how wet it is in warmer seasons. But if you like just a bit of adventure, this is for you. The view from Avery Hill is gorgeous. The cache is a small Lock 'n Lock. You need to bring your own pencil! Note: at this time of year it is necessary to park on Avery Hill Road as the trailhead parking is not plowed.
