Geocache Description:

Near Uggeshall this cache is to be found next to the River Wang in some of the most beautiful countryside in Suffolk.

Starting at Footpath A (N52 22.024 E1 35.612) the cache lies at the mid-point of a short circular walk along a marked footpath. Easy terrain, nettles in Summer (long trousers!) the whole walk should take no more than 30 minutes.
Along the course of the embryonic River Wang (or ‘Wanke’ in Medieval times) which later gives its name to the village of Wangford, the cache is to be found just after a small bridge. Please cover the cache again afterwards as muggles pass by here occasionally.

Be careful, the river may be dry in mid-summer but runs high after rain. Very occasional shoot on nearbye farmland.

Having found the cache continue to follow the path round the edge of the field. Enjoy the view from Billy’s bench (N52 22.236 E1 35.679) – the real treasure – before arriving back at the road at B (N52 22.244 E1 35.900) Return to your car by a short walk along the very quiet country lane. Notice the wild primroses in the ditches in Spring.

Billy Fairhead was a fine, larger-than-life local farmer. His family still farm the surrounding fields.
