This cache is located on the Lewis & Clark Trail in St. Charles, MO. A difficult cache to access and find, but well worth the view its location affords...

This hike was voted the best hike in the St. Louis Metro by www.localhikes.com. Couldn't agree more! The views are extraordinary.

The trail eventually branches into two trails -- The Lewis Trail (8 miles total) and the Clark trail (5.5 miles total). The trail offers three cliff overlooks (each one higher than the last!) of the Missouri River. Those familiar with the area will be able to see Chesterfield Mall, Chesterfield Valley, and the Spirit of St. Louis Airport in the distance across the river. On warm days in the summer, boats can be seen on the river.

PLEASE NOTE: Seasonal hunting IS ALLOWED in the area, but should not affect the discovery of this cache. The trail is normally fairly populated, but please use caution, especially when venturing off trail.

A WORD ON THE CACHE LOCATION: This could be a very difficult cache to find. You will have to venture off trail but only a bit. The cache is located at the very first overlook (it should be the first time you see the river). There is some benches and an informational display. When you stand here and look at the river, the cache will be to your RIGHT -- look and you will see the rocky cliffs in which it is hidden. The location IS difficult, but not impossible, to get to. Small children or the elderly, or anyone with some sort of disability will have trouble reaching it!

You -will- have to look very thoroughly (look around rocks and in holes in the cliff face). Nothing needs to be moved to see the cache, but a decent sized rock is concealing it and holding it in place, which will have to be moved to extract it. Please put it back as you found it.

More detailed directions to the cache in the hint!

A WORD ON THE COORDINATES: This coordinates may not be perfectly accurate. I used my iPhone is triangulate them and it has been known to not be perfectly accurate. On Google Earth, these coordinates point to a spot a bit closer to the river, on the Katy Trail (which is visible from the cache). The discrepancy is maybe ten to twenty feet closer to the river, but ten to twenty feet closer to the river is about 500 feet below the cache :) JUST NOTE that you will NOT have to descend the cliff to get to the cache. If the coordinates really throw you for a loop, please say so in your comments and we will try to get a more accurate read.

Also please note that this is our first cache! :) We worked hard to find a very cool place to hide it, and filled it with some nice treasures! We sincerely hope you enjoy it, and welcome any criticism on how we could improve your caching experience!!

Lastly, parking and trailhead coordinates!
N38 41.472 W90 43.462
The parking lot is located off Highway 94 south of Highway 40. It is on the right, past the Weldon Spring Nuclear Waste Site (why not climb to the top and see more great views, while you're in the area?)
