Geocache Description:

This "magnano" is in an area known for the start of the industrial revolution in America. BYOP!

Francis Cabot Lowell, whom the town of Lowell is named after, brought back innovative ideas from his visit to England in the early 1800's. His company, the Boston Manufacturing Company, built this mill and combined the processes of spinning raw cotton and then weaving it into cloth with the hands of young farm girls hired from the surrounding towns.

The process was widely adopted and used in future near by mills, contributing to the industrial growth of the area.
