Geocache Description:

There is no shame in logging a DNF!

Ever notice how geocachers will log a 'found it', post in the message how this is the third time looking for it, but in the earlier logs there is strangely no mention of a DNF? Are we all just padding our stats? Well, this is my answer to that!

At these coordinates, I've hidden in the hollow tree a large cache with plenty of swag. THIS IS NOT THE ACTUAL CACHE--IT IS THE DNF CACHE! If you can't find the REAL cache, go ahead and sign the DNF log book and log a DNF on Geocaching.com. There, that doesn't feel so bad, does it?

ALWAYS REPLACE THE DNF EXACTLY WHERE YOU FOUND IT!!!

TO LOG A 'FOUND IT':
The real cache is still two (figurative) steps away. A much smaller cache (within 5 feet of the large DNF cache) must be found--that's why you must always replace the DNF cache exactly where you found it. Inside it are three clues/pieces of information that reveal the location of the final REAL cache, which is located less than a 20 minute walk from the first DNF cache. The REAL cache contains the verification word that you need to email to me. Once you've emailed me, then you may log a 'Found It' (and the accompanying, well-earned smiley face) on Geocaching.com.

One final rule...in the spirit of the game, if you've figured out my puzzle and logged a 'Found It', please keep all clues/hints/etc to yourself. No phone a friend! Feel free to team up with a friend (or two) for the hunt, though. Be prepared to spend some serious time in the woods!

As much as I'd like to take credit for this, it is based loosely on another cache in North Kansas City (It's GR8 to "DNF"--GC1GWD0).

FIRST TO DNF: GNK0709 & JOLKOW

MOST DNFs: k-n-k family (3 DNFs)

FIRST TO FIND: eduCACHEtion 3/25/09

UPDATE 5/4/10: The last DNF cache box went missing, and the culprits left a vulgur note in the DNF log book (along with the swag). So, I've had to hide the ammo box a little better in hopes of avoiding a future mugglism--IT IS STILL IN THE HOLLOW TREE. Now there is a steel cable securing it. Add a little bark-o-flage to hide the box and cable when done. Be careful of the top, it likes to fall off when open.
