This cache is a tribute to the New Zealand Sheep Farmer. "New Zealand is the country in the world where sheep out numbered the people". In the mid 1980's, New Zealand had over 70 million sheep and only 3 million people!
This cache is at the historic Wharekaka Station site. It commemorates the arrival of the sheep in the Waiarapa in 1844.
